Silver blacks appear different?
-
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3584800
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3584801
These two look different. One has a very milk chocolate coat with a lighter mane and tail and the other is very silvery with a darker mane and tail but they have the same genetics. Is there a reason behind this?
Also my Freaky Friday mare has a very nice dark coat and very silver white mane and tail.. is this becuase she is DP?http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3602500
This mare also has that really light mane and tail she is homo DPhttp://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3602680
So my questions are:
What cause this?
How do I get that brilliant dark coat with the very light mane and tail.

If I had to guess, I'd say what you're seeing is just variance in potential images. Every color... uh... option has a variety of possible images it can return, different shades/intensities/etc.
It would be easy enough to test with a reroll or two, probably. -
If you're looking for more like your freaky friday mare they would have to be DP.
If you get a silver black that is homo sooty you'll also get a pretty dark one.
Like Stone Silo Farm said if you get one whos color is kinda what you want but not exactly you can reroll a couple times and that may do the trick -
your last mare is also not a black silver...she is a palomino. The double DP is causing her to look that dark.
-
Yes I know the last mare is a pally, I was asking if the DP had anything to do with the lightness of the mane and tial since it is so similar to the Freaky Friday mare
-
I was also wondering if it was possible for the first mare I posted to have DP since her color is "richer"
-
DP only shows on red pigments, so you do not see it on a aa horse.
-
The pali's lightness in her mane and tail, is because of the cream gene, not the DP.Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Think! - It's not illegal yet. -
Yes I know about the cream usually sooty makes them darker not lighter.. I decided to conduct and experiment with the dp and see if it work out the way I want. Also and ee aa mare will show dp
-
I think she meant to say it won't show on an EE aa horse, not just aa. It works on bays and chestnut bases for sure though. LOVE bays and buckskins with DP.Thanked by 1Visions

your freaky friday may be appearing darker than the first two because it is homozygous sooty, where the other two are not :)

ee is red pigment, so yes DP shows. Bay and brown also have red pigment.
