Hello I was wondering if it is a good idea to let your yearlings age before showing them or show them right away? Thanks!
-
I show my yearlings for the points. Every bit counts.

It doesn't cost a lot to show yearlings, it is true, and if they are lucky they will win more classes than they lose and so gain you some points, but when you're just starting out and every hajibuck is precious, it might work better to let wait until they are two and have started training. You could try out Forestshadow's strategy, but if you find that it's costing you more than the gain in showing bonus, then I'd stop and wait.

Thanks!

If you do show your yearlings, don't judge their future worth based on their yearling show record. Since they don't train and the yearling classes only have 2 horses in them, winning or loosing is a matter of luck, not the horse's showing ability. Where a horse starts as a yearling has no real effect on it's show career once it has some training.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.
