Delightfully hard decisions
-
Just started breeding... figured if it was like last season, I'd breed gradually and as I did so, go through the foals and keep/cull to keep my barns not-full. I had the colt fairy visit, and had several geldings, some of which did not meet my keep criteria, and I also ended up culling or gelding a good portion of the colts (inconsistency, or color). Ended up with a nice selection of show babies (including a colt that I gelded for being the wrong color but he was super consistent high scores, so he stayed) and I ended up keeping just three colts...and all but one fillies as I didn't get many. Well...this year the filly fairy visited at least for breeding phase 1 and got a nice percentage of the desired Champagnes (albeit one sire is ChCh...it helps!):

Sigh...culling will be hard this time.
Also, I might be interested in swapping out a "Perfect Foundation" Amber Champagne stallion for a different one after the pastures breed, if anyone is interested. Looking for Amber, Sable or Classic champagne, any patterns or modifiers, although I prefer no grey. He's from the Foundation Rescue. http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3701898 -
Would you be at all interested in a Gold Champagne stallion? He's a 13 year old, regular create (Champagne Rabicano), but during his time in pasture he gave me 4 A papered colts and his average PT is 10.2 for 85 foals. Eight of his daughters have papered Red so far.
Here is TT Diamond Etched.

I will look for the Amber, Sable, and Classic Champagne foundations in my herd, but the guy truly amazed me. I never expect a C papered stallion to produce A papered studs, even in pasture. Only one of the dams of those 4 was an exceptional producer, the others were all ordinary creates, though they must have had 100% breeding ability to produce such fine sons. -
Here are all of my foundation champagne stallions. A couple are exceptional producers, but most are ordinary creates. A lot of them haven't seen much breeding, if any at all; none of them have done quite as amazingly as Diamond Etched, I don't think. Anyway, if any of them interest you, just let me know and I'll be glad to swap. I do want to keep Wind Warrior, however, since he was a Secret Santa gift. All the rest are of my own breeding, so I'm more than willing to share.

You've got some nice ones in there...hard call between Diamond Etched (yes, good breeding ability is tempting...), Gallant Ambrose and Capricorn Alert... I'll have to ruminate on that one!

Too much fun... http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3900812
Way way too much fun... http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3901912
Good news is my barns are full right now so I can't breed anymore until I cull! -
Those are two cute foals. I especially like the filly.
I've put your name in the notes for Gallant Ambrose and Capricorn Alert.
