Just noticed change in color name

  • I was going through my stallions and changing their backgrounds just because I wanted to, and after I refreshed one, I noticed that his color name had changed to Chocolate Palomino Roan Dun Splash Frame Rabicano.

Now, what does Chocolate Palomino mean?
  • That means that it has two copies of sooty and at least one of DP, or one copy of sooty and two of DP, or two copies of both. Ammit has made a new Breeders Club, called Liver, for horses with at least 3 darkening genes. She has also added Liver to Red Duns with three or more darkening genes, so that they can be identified and entered into the Liver Club.

There was quite a discussion about what changes in naming could be made to give as wide a base of eligibility as possible. I'm pretty sure that it was decided that trying to rename colors for horses with both DP and Champagne and Bays with DP would be awkward, so I don't think there will be any changes there, and they will probably not be eligible for the club. Rules of eligibility have to be very clear cut and simple for the programming to handle them.

  • I hope that someday there'll be a name for DP and Champagne. Champ's pretty good at hiding some other genes.

Anyhow that was quite a delightful surprise on seeing that he was a chocolate pali. Never would have guessed at it.

http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3331007. This is the chocolate palomino. Since he doesn't have sooty, he has to have two copies of DP to be chocolate, correct?

  • I would say that he must have homozygous DP. It must have been hiding in his ancestors.

  • Yep, was well hidden lol.
  • No it's a bug.

  • Bug? What sort of bug?
  • Found the same on my HJ2 account :) Palomino foal is chocolate with no sooty genes. Not that I'm complaining... I'll always take more clubs to be registered in haha!
  • @ Forestshadow
It appears, from various posts I've read in the two game forums and on Facebook, that every palomino, regardless of the number of darkening genes it has, has been reclassified as "Chocolate" Palomino. That means that Ammit has to investigate the coding for the color test naming results to find out what needs to be corrected there.

  • Ohh ok, so those chocolates might not stay chocolate.
  • Correct. Any that have been misnamed will be corrected to reflect their true genetics.
