Today I learnt an important thing in this game...
-
I learnt that I should breed exceptional perfect stallions with exceptional perfect mares. Not with usual mares. Yes, probably this is a basic thing about breeding horses in this game. Probably you, more experienced breeders, know that, but I just learnt about it. Today I gelded several beautiful colts 'cause the comparison testing said that they're worse than their sire. (By the way, after this testing I have about 4,000 hbs now.) Finally, I found a colt out of exceptional perfect mare and he was...about as good as his sire. I can see some progress... At least I have a nice stud for all these young mares.Post edited by Azadeh at 2016-03-14 12:24:54understand the significance of signatures

I would recommend papering all colts and then only comparison testing ones that paper higher than their sire. This is only for C to B and B to A levels though. I breed my exceptional together and regular creates together, but I have seen people get very good results with exceptional x regular crosses.
-
I've gotten A 2nd generation boys out of B x normal DHH crosses. I have even had a 2nd gen blue papered mare from a B x normal DHH cross. She's running forever in green pastures now though. It's just a matter of luck.

With pastures, it is very possible to get high quality offspring out of exceptional x regular crosses if the mares have been enjoying the pasture for 30+ days. It can happen without the pasture bonus too - it's just less likely.
In terms of comparison testing - I do free testing, then papering, then studs I like comparison tested against a benchmark stallion for their generation in order of how much I like their coloring/size/weight/etc. If they're not at least AGA, then they get the snip. As soon as I get my first or second AGA boy, the rest get the snip without even being tested.

Two of those gelded colts weren't bred on a pasture. And they were gelded.
@HiLo, I'm not an upgraded player to paper my horses.
And an interesting fact: all of my horses are from DHH Rank Special, Rank 5 or Rank 4. Studs are exceptionally perfect. So all foals are just out of exceptionally perfect stallion x Rank 4 or higher mare. That non-gelded colt was out of pasture breeding: exceptional producing appy stallion x Conversation Hearts RS mare. So exceptionally perfect x exceptionally perfect = foal as good as sire.
You know, I'd test all of pasture colts, however I have no money for that. Maybe later.Post edited by Azadeh at 2016-03-14 23:40:21understand the significance of signatures -

There is no reason to do this. You know higher papered colts are better so it just wastes money.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I only Comparison test those that paper the same as their sire.(for the very reason that Ammit said if they paper higher they are obviously better)if i have not yet got a higher papered colt,Post edited by jaclou at 2016-03-17 19:37:24
