I am making some changes to how public breeding works. We will soon have a friends only breeding system and once that is in place you will no longer be allowed to have breeding restrictions. They must be removed from your owner notes if you stand a horse for public breeding.

They are not against the rules just yet but this is a heads up to let you know this is coming so you can plan. Don't want anyone taken off guard.

Why is this happening? Breeding restrictions cause a lot of problems and drama between players, they make new members feel unwelcome or worse feel like they have to dispense arbitrary rules to other new players to fit in. Some of the rules I have seen put up range from incredibly overbearing to downright strange and bizarre. Basically game members have abused stud rules and lost the right to have them. People who wish to have that level of control over offspring will need to use private friend only breeding leaving public breeding for everyone.

I am not positive how this will all work and when this will be implemented but it is coming.

I have a question about the banning. What if the person banning another person uses a one word answer like cheaty, dishonest or I don't want to play with this person a valid reason?

All ban messages will have to be updated to the new banning regulations. Which you will see when they are released.

I have a question, I had bought a stallion with a breeding policy. Would I have to delete this when this change occurs? Would you also be allowed to just ask to use free testing or even lines? Like not demand it, just suggest? That's really what I've been doing, so I figured I'd check.

If you stand a stallion or mare on the public breeding list you may under no circumstances have any rules about breeding to it and what happens with foals. None, zip not a one.

If your stallion or mare is NOT on the public list, you can have rules. You can breed via straws/buddy breeding etc. Just like how sales are. You can have private contracts if you want but not on the public list for any reason.

You can have in suggestions about testing but please do not contact them about it. Contacting them skirts a very fine line with complaint/harassment and is probably not a good idea. If it is going to bother you if a foal is untested, don't stand the horse public.

Again none of this is in effect in anyway until we have buddy list breeding. I'll add in a in house live cover option too so you can breed with out putting a horse up on the public list.

So there will be different breeding options and lists?

If we place a horse on public list, what are we allowed? Like politely asking to keep some things in consideration but not enforcing anything? Or will this take time to hash out on what is permissible?

You can name any foal you produce, but if someone else owns the foal, the name is up to them.

And have you ever heard of a real stallion owner who had rules about what mare owners could name the babies? If that's ever been done in real life, it sure hasn't been done often. I don't think that would set well with people laying out all their money to get the foal in reality. And I don't think it'd go over very well here either, at least, not unless it was someone you were friends with. Then they may not mind doing you that favor.

Personally, I'd find it rather off putting if someone approached me with what I should name my horse. I think it would bother me enough to block them and stop doing business with them.

If it's really important enough to you that you'd want input in what the foals are named, then I think it'd be best for you to keep your lines in house, or only let your friends breed to them. Otherwise, it's going to cause bad feelings one way or another. Either people are going to feel pressured to do things the way you want and resent it, or you're going to be upset when they refuse to go along with it.

The horses that have "do not clone descendants" on them, what's the new policy? I just don't want to break any rules.

That is a game feature. I don't know of anyone who has ever been blocked by another user because of it.

Does this mean that all members blocked because of restrictions will be unblocked?

I have no idea about each individual case of one member blocking another. If you believe there is a block that should be lifted you can PM me.
