Culling lines advice
  • I've been having an itch to cull my horses.

However, it would mean getting rid of all my older horses. Horses that I've gotten attached to. Horses that have genes that I don't have in my new lines that I want to establish. For example, S+. I have that gene in my older lines. I don't have that gene in my current foundations because I can not afford it.

How do you people deal when you clean barns? I know there have been players that started over with new lines.

    I would welcome suggestions.

  • If you're unhappy with them as breeding stock, and you don't keep show stock, then sell them. If you get that ick feeling knowing they are taking up space in your barn, you'll feel so much better once they're gone. And you can always do a wanted post to pick up a couple replacements if you still want to add other genes to your later generations. :)

  • If you sell them then you'll be able to afford to buy GMT's to add S+ to your new lines!

However, I sympathise with you as I find it very difficult to cull my favourites.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

  • I have S+ in some C based lines that I would be willing to share with you.

  • I am one of the ones the scrapped my old lines and started from scratch. This was back when Ammit first redid the bays. I instantly fell in love because the look like my RL mare.

I went through everything and culled hard. I mean only 3g Blues (from regular create foundies) and only the most superior stallions. I also decided that I didn't want exceptional-bred lines anymore, so they went too.

It was definitely hard, but I was determined so I just had to grit my teeth and do it. lol

I also have a few S+ foundies I am willing to share if you're interested. :D

  • Thanks for the offers, guys. I'll follow up once I finish culling. It'll probably take me a while as I decide just how hard I want to cull.
