In Hunt and Jump 1, breeding season comes every other month. That means that a game year lasts 2 real life months. Breeding season comes in January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Administrators begin breeding on the first of the month, to make sure things are going smoothly and there are no bugs. Upgraded members are given a starting time for breeding on the second, and non-upgraded members on the 3rd. Breeding is open through the 27th day of that month.
Newborns are foals for the first month of that game year, become yearlings when the next real life month begins, and then 2 at the start of the next month/game year.
Stallions reach breeding age at 3, mares at 4.
When breeding season comes, you can use the Search Horses page to look for stallions that are up for public stud. It's best to keep even generations--breed foundation horses to foundations, 2nd generation horses to 2nd gen, 3rd gen to 3rd gen, and so on. If you are using other players' stallions, click Breed to this Horse at the bottom of their page and then select the name of the mare from the drop down box at the top. You have to give the foal a name, but it can be a placeholder name and then changed later. Click the button and you will have a new foal.
If you are using your own stallion and mare, one of them has to be given a breeding fee, even if it's only 1hb. (I put up my normal foundation stallions for that price, and so do many other players.)
