Just wondering...
  • Is it possible for a boosted A papered foundation stallion to have a star papered stud colt? Thanks

  • I would really highly doubt it. In my experience, it takes at least 2 generations of A to get Star. So 3rd gen at the most earliest possible. I don't bother with boosted lines myself, but I know there are others that do.
  • OK thank you. I'm trying to decide if I should boost my new B papered Exper stud. I have gotten a 2G A papered from my other ExPer stud. I was hoping if I boosted him to A I could get a Star. Hmmm. Thanks for the insight

  • Don't forget that the mare contributes to the result of the breeding, and we have fewer ways of testing mares than stallions. You'd probably have to have boosted expro or experf mares to mate with your stallion to have even the slightest chance of getting a star son in the third gen, and even then, as Forestshadow said, the odds are against you.

  • Ah..you're right SandyCreek. I'm not sure I'd want to boost that many mares to start a new line for 1 stud. Hm. Thank you both for the opinion. I'm glad I asked before spending the money
  • Most of my star 2nd gen boys are from double boosted foundations. (5% boosted foundations, cloned and then the clone boosted again). I also have a couple of stars from one reg 5% boosted exceptionally perfect crossed with a double boosted mare.

  • It really all comes down to how much money you are willing to invest at the foundation level on both stallions and mares. You would need to have the best of the best to have any chances of succeeding. It will be an expensive project.
