So last night I went to the Dog Club's AGM and ended up accepting the position of secretary. Everyone looked at me like I was mad so now wondering if it was a good idea or not lol.

lol thanks. I had noticed beforehand that their website is never up to date etc so figure there are some things I can offer

Goo for you!! That is great you are willing to step up and volunteer. 90% of the work is done by 5% of the members it seems.

I've heard the ratio as 20% do 80% of the work, but I agree that you may find it to be a good thing.

I'd say yes. Many years ago I agreed to be the secretary of my local playgroup committee. It kept my skills up, gave me something to do outside of the home, and voluntary work always looks good on a CV. There may be times when you regret coming forward, but in the long run you'll see it as a good thing. :)
