PT Question
-
Does anyone cull foundations based on PT scores? I have one unaltered mare from a herd helper (other 2 didn't pass SAT) and she has a PT score of 6.5. She passed SAT, SMA, and is consistent. I love her colors and want to use her to breed but is the PT score going to cause problems in her foals?

She's not the only foundation to do this either. The last one was perfect for my breeding program, passed all tests, and came out with a a 3.4 or something. Any help is appreciated. :) -
PT score has nothing to do with breeding ability :)ID 195859

When you create a foundation horse the game generates 2 totally unrelated random numbers for the breeding and training ability. PT is determined by the training ability and consistency, and says nothing about the breeding ability. SMA compares the mare's breeding ability to her dam's breeding ability (I believe all foundations are compared to the same reference horse). Since your mare passed SMA intact, she is of acceptable breeding ability for a foundation. SAT compares the horse's breeding and training ability scores and only neuters ones that are significantly better showers, so it doesn't guarantee decent breeding ability for a low PT horse to pass intact.
Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

In the days before Mare Advice and Strict Mare Advice, when I was a fairly new player in the game, I had a mare with a PT score of 2.? (I no longer remember the exact PT, and she passed out of the game real life years ago). She was one of my favorite brood mares and papered Red with no difficulty. Many of her foals PT tested over 10.
The only way you can find out how good a foundation mare with a very low PT score will be at breeding (if she has passed MA and/or SMA) is to breed her to a decent foundation stallion and find out what her foals are like.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2016-07-19 17:28:24 -

Thanks, Ammit. I find myself making that error fairly frequently. Didn't catch it this time. Will edit my post.
