A few answers ~

1. Making stables better ~ For most people that play the game, it takes a long time to build a stable full of great horses. It does help speed the process up to spend some real money for upgrades and extras. If you are not upgraded MAKE SURE you are using all the free testing on your horses and take the advice given by it. Most players will avoid a person who sells untested stock because they are gambling that a horse they want for breeding will not pass the appropriate testing. If the tests say your horse is a better show horse than breeder, they should be altered regardless of how pretty they may be!

2. Making Friends ~ Most everyone here is friendly and helpful. They love to answer questions, give helpful advice and push you in the right direction for achieving whatever goals you set for yourself. Anything you need, you can usually find on the forum by asking! Some players offer high quality stock free or at a big discount to new players to help them build up a good herd. The forum is also a great way to stay updated on any changes to the game.

3. Breeding for greatness ~ This is a good question to ask as we are going through many changes to the game that are giving us more opportunities to produce better quality foals. The newest way to increase your odds of better foals are pastures. Mares that are kept in pasture permanently are going to produce higher quality foals every season that they are in the pasture. Starting with good stock is also VERY important. The Foundation Rescue is a good place to pick up starter stock for your stable. All of these horses are basically considered "Perfect Foundations." Starting your breeding program with perfect foundations, exceptional producers or exceptionally perfect stock (these labels will be at the bottom of your horses page with a little colored star next to them!) with help to breed out better foals. Picking the right stallion to breed with your mares also helps to better your herd. Keeping your pedigrees even (breeding foundations to foundations, 2nd gen to 2nd gen, etc.) will make for a better chance of getting an intact foal. This is also more desirable if you want to sell your foals as most players are MUCH more likely to purchase a horse with an even pedigree. If you do use someone else's stallion to breed to, make sure you abide by any rules the have listed in their stallion's notes.
