Can't add S+ to a horse

Why can't I gene mod this horse http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=4078153 to get the S+ he missed from his sire ( http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2770048 )? Is it not allowed because his sire was modified too?

What does "can't gene mod" mean. What are you seeing. His S+ option comes up fine for me in the lab.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Make sure you select the sire's sooty gene. It won't work if you try and edit the dam's sooty gene.Need to contact me? Read this first.

In the Gene Modification Treatment page, it shows the options "S" for the sire and "S" for the dam.. no S+ options
