PT scores?
-
Is there a science behind the PT scores, or is it just random?
I just upgraded my account and long story short, curiosity killed the cat when it came to PT scores on my horses.
I have a filly that PT scored 12.1! And I tested her Dam, a foundation/herd helper, and she was only 7.7... (just really confused on the huge gap of their scores. Her sire is 13.3, but I thought that her score would be more in the middle..?)
Is there something that determines the PT scores that the horses get or is the score just randomized?
Thanks! -
PT scores are determined mostly by the breeding quality (not the PT score!) of the parents, with a little bit of randomness thrown in.Thanked by 1wammybar

How is breeding quality judged? Is that the A or Star rating?
-
Breeding quality is judged by how a stallion or mare papers. It can also be judged by checking the Average Foal PT of a horse's offspring.
Stallion papers, from worst to best are Showable Only, C, B, A, *Star.
Mare papers, from worst to best are Failed, Yellow, Red, Blue, *Gold.
Stallions and Mares that paper at the lowest quality are less likely to pass Gelding Advice, Strict Mare Advice, and Showing Aptitude, though if both showing and breeding ability are about equally low, they may get past SAT without being snipped.
