Gelding
-
If you spay or geld a horse, does that mean he or she will have better performance? Let's say they pass gelding advice, showing aptitude, but you don't want to breed them. Is there any advantage to spaying or gelding?Post edited by HunterRider7 at 2016-09-26 08:17:36

Neutered horses do have some advantage in training and in the length of time they will train before levelling off. It may not be extremely obvious, but in the long run it will pay off. The earlier in its life you neuter a horse, the more time the advantage has to take effect. If you create a 3 year old and don't plan to breed him, I would suggest gelding him right away.
Waiting until he is 8 or 9 looses game-years of training advantage.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2016-09-26 11:28:03
