Generations?
-
How long would everyone match generations for? Currently I have a few 5th generations but no stallion that is a 5th gen ready to breed. I'm unsure if the mares are at the level of a star papered stallion. Just looking for some advice and opinions.HJ1 ID #: 211869

I try to match mine as often as possible, and I'm up to 7th and 8th generation horses. I've found that the higher the generation, the harder it is to get stallions, probably because mare quality slips as time goes on. When I don't have stallions of the right generation, I breed backwards ONE step, so my 7th gen mares were seeing 6th gen stallions.
A mare that is the equivalent of a star-papered stallion would, herself, be gold-papered. -
That makes sense. Also that's what I was trying to say, I'm not sure if these 5th gen mares are at the point to paper gold. Thank you for your inputHJ1 ID #: 211869
