Points vs Earnings
-
I'm wondering what's everyones thoughts with this new system: Is it worth it to lose earnings or profits to gain points? I'm running an experiment with my foals to see how I feel about it. If every point is about .6 hb then if a yearling wins he gains .5 points (or.3hb weekly until he's deceased or sold). if he loses its 5 hb. Over the lifetime of the horse is it worth it to have those points every week or is it better to only show them when they earn points AND profit. What do you think? I'm thinking .3 over 18+ game years far outweighs the chance of losing 5 hb.

Well I think I still.might pull the levelled off ones that are losing badly into a no show barn. The few points they earn probably won't be worth what they lose me. But to be honest I'm still trying to work it all out myself on the best thing to do, and the find the ones that aren't worth itPost edited by Kintara at 2014-07-17 18:30:59

I have to say i am thoroughly confused lol i have turned on auto show on pretty much all my barns, i know the net profit is wrong on the main page, i think until that bug is fixed its going to be hard to work out exactly the best way to do things, for me anyway. I have a feeling though that i will be much worse off.
I am putting all my older points earners into retirement now rather than the auction to keep points.
I wish the net profit was correct... This week you earned a net profit of 1,447,680hb's.
That would be nice! Haha -
I have noticed in my H&J2 stable, where I did very little showing until the new system came in and most of my horses are quite young, AND where Ammit is trying out the effect of having auto show enter all the horses in a barn on its schedule----I have noticed that, while my showing income is still increasingly negative (more than -2000hb at present), my total points are rising very nicely. You currently hold 1896 points.
You earn a 1137 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of -2,343hb's.
The points number used to be a few hundred, and the showing bonus just over 100 hb's. (I haven't been keeping a daily hard record of these figures.) It'll be a long road yet to profit from showing, but the trend is definitely upward, so I'm optimistic that all will eventually be well. -
You know, I'm kind of curious about this myself, so went to have a look.
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=1946587 looks like a good case study for this. Under the old showing system, he's definitely a horse that I should have cut from the show string a LONG time ago who just kind of slipped under the radar. I mean, he's lost me 63713 hbs to date, but we'll ignore that little detail for the moment. Right now he's earned a whopping 669 points... which isn't very many, truthfully, especially for a horse his age. He's showing at 8W, which used to be a deep money pit - now it only costs 70 hbs to enter. The internet tells me that 60 percent of 669 is 401.4 ... which means that every week he wins me 401 hbs. Even if he shows twice a week and still comes in dead last and thus gains no more points, ever, in his whole life, he's still making me a profit. Not a huge one, but definitely more of a profit than he was making.
I'm waiting for the weekly profit thing to iron itself out, but in the meantime...:
You currently hold 2125682 points.
You earn a 1275409 hb's weekly bonus from showing.
This week you earned a net profit of 2,372,925hb's.
The weekly showing bonus alone is almost double what my net profit was before the change. So I'd vote very strongly in favor of it being well worth the investment to show as often as possible. It doesn't take very many points at all to exceed the threshold required to cover weekly show entries, and everything after that is profit.
