Showing Points
-
I'm a little confused with a few things. How are total points calculated? I see it doesn't directly correlate to the points on the records page. Also, when a horse levels off, are they worth showing anymore? Can they collect more points? Or is entering then into shows money down the drain? Thanks!!!! :)Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres

Horses have two numbers in their records that increase, which can be a bit confusing.
1. Showing Score: Every horse starts out with a base Showing Score. Until they level off, their Base Showing score will increase whenever they are trained. Perfect Foundations (and most horses with PT scores in the 9's and lower 10's) add 3 points to their base score with each training. Horses that test consistent have scores that may remain exactly the same for both shows in a week (as Perfect Foundation horses do) or their scores may vary slightly - +/-1 to +/-2 - in a week. Inconsistent horses have wider potential variations in their score each week.
When you go to a horse's records page, these are the "points" you see recorded in the far right column, under the heading "Score."
2. Showing Points: The second number consists of points that are awarded to horses for their placings in a class. Every horse in the class, except the one that comes in last, will be awarded some of these points. The higher the placing, the more of these points a horse gains. The total number of these points awarded in a class increases, generally speaking, as the class size increases and the Level and Grade increase. A horse keeps these points throughout its life, even when it is sold to another player. These are the points that your Showing Bonus is based on.
When you go to a horse's records page, the top class names are a link that will take you to the complete record of that show--every horse entered, where it placed, who owns it, the show score awarded and the number of Showing Points the horse has gained. The records of older shows are not available to save server space.
What happens when a horse levels off: When a horse levels off, it stops adding appreciable amounts to its score with training. It does add tiny fractions of a point, so it's placing in shows will very slowly increase, but it can take real-life months for it to add enough to raise it's base score even 1 point. If the horse was showing near the top of its class when it leveled off, it may, eventually, level up to the next higher class. In this case, it will, of course, be placing at or near the bottom of its classes. When this happens, the number of points it will be given as an award for its placing will drop greatly and you might want to stop showing it on a regular basis. If it levels off in the middle or near the top of a class, it will continue to add enough showing points to make it worthwhile to keep showing it.
However, any horse with a nice collection of showing points is worth keeping in your stable to add to your Showing Bonus, unless you absolutely have no room to keep it.
On the horse's main Info Tab, in the third section of data below the image and horse's name, you will find its Training Level and a record of its financial value to your stable.
"Earnings this year" gives you the hajibucks that a horse has won from shows in the current game year to date.
"Points this year" tells you how many Showing Points it has added to its record in the current game year to date.
"Total earnings" tells you how much money it has won from show payouts throughout its life.
"Total points" is the sum of all the showing points the horse has gained, and is what determines its contribution to your Daily Showing Bonus.
"Profit" lets you know the balance between what has been paid in entry fees and what was won in show payouts. It is Total Earnings minus the sum of its entry fees.
All of these numbers remain the same when you buy a horse EXCEPT Profit, which resets to 0 when the horse enters your stable. However, since your main source of showing income comes from the Daily Showing Bonus, the most important of these statistics is Total Points, not Profit.
I hope this helps clear up the mystery.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2016-11-15 10:42:27 -
The only points in the game are the points earned by how many horses your horse beat in a show. There are no other points. Horses have a showing score and that score can increase but only the column labeled points are called points.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Thanks, Ammit, for that clarification. I guess, when I started playing and needed to predict how many points were being added to the score each week, I got into the habit of thinking of the score in terms of "points." From the way part of the question was phrased--" How are total points calculated? I see it doesn't directly correlate to the points on the records page."--I think HunterRider was thinking of things in the same way.
I will reword my post to reflect the more correct information.Thanked by 1Ammit
