Liver Chestnut

What makes a horse a liver chestnut? I have a mare that is chestnut with StySty, which I thought would be liver chestnut.
Thanks!! :)
Also, thanks to everyone who has been so welcoming on here and has helped me out so much. This is a really fun game and having nice people to play with on here makes it even better. Thanks!!! -
Nope, StySty just makes her a dark chestnut. You also need DP, which is a gene that is not testable on the gene test we have. If they get 1 Dp along with the StySty, then they are liver. If they get 2 Dp along with 2 StySty then they are known as Black livers.

Think! - It's not illegal yet. -
Very interesting. Thank you so much for the clarification! Does DP get passed down through breeding?
-
Yes. DP is inheritable, just like any other gene. It's just that it's one of three genes that are not found in the gene test. We have to keep track of it in other ways. The other two are Kit Promoter or KP and Gulastra Plume or GP.
Actually, this is another way the game mirrors real life, since not every horse color or variation has yet been genetically identified and can't be tested for in a real-life lab. *G* -
Thank you so much for the great explanation!!! :)
