Some of you may remember I asked, a few months ago, whether this "C" gene (C for color and c for no color) did indeed exist in equine color genetics. This was presented at a LECTURE on equine genetics. Yes, you read it right.
Well, there is more coming. I'm reading someone's site about color genetics, and it seems a little messy, but basically they are saying that if agouti is present along with an ee genotype, then the horse will have "red mane, tail and legs, because of the homozygous e, but the A in the genotype leads to lightening of the color on the head, neck and trunk, rendering color on these areas to a yellowish shade"(sic).
It seems like they are trying to describe, unsuccessfully, a red dun.
In another phrase, apparently they are describing a seal brown by "B_A+ being a horse with dark bay coat with color lightening on the head, flanks and axillas"
and pangare, by "BbA+ would be a reddish bay with yellowish color on the head, flanks and axillas".
They also talk about M gene for the common white markings on face and legs.
*Sigh* -
Huh, apparently their doctorate they printed off the internet entitles them to making genes up.
I've heard people toss A+ around, but it's never been proven to exist. Some say that's what causes Wild Bay. However, M gene and all the other stuff you mentioned? Ugh.
You know, everything you read on the internet is true. Lol.Imation Stud ID# 2609

This made up genetics is just horrifying.. I really hope people don't try learning this made up stuff. There are some good websites out there on equine genetics but far far far more terrible ones!!ID 213454
