    I'm so confused on the whole "breeding times" thing. Also I put my mare in the pasture with a stallion but it says she isn't eligible for breeding, yet she's old enough.

    If a mare has already had a foal this year, she can't be bred again until the next game year. It'll say so on her main page. Look under her name, three lines down, there's a "bred this year" line. If it's not 0, then she's done until the next year. :)
