Elder Mare Quality ?
-
I was going through my eggs since I had reset all testing for my mares and the new SMA caught many of my older blue papered mares.
This caught my eye.

After looking her pedigree over, I do not know how she would fare under the new SMA. Is there a way to determine mare quality since I can't re-test the ones that aged out? -
You won't ever know for certain, but looking at foal quality is generally the first, last, and only way to tell.
Both her and her dam are blue-papered (so no hints there.)
Her dam's AFPT (with 4 foals) is 11.2, ranging between 11 and 11.3 with one untested. Her AFPT (with 3 foals) is 11.4, ranging from 11 to 11.6. None of the stallions they were bred to were bred extensively so it's hard to get averages for them, but none of them appear to be significantly better quality than the mares.
It does look like she might be a better producer than her dam, so she probably would've passed the new SMA. -
Thanks, SSF
