Showing strategy...
-
Okay, I want to make sure I'm making the most of showing!
I've researched here on the forum a little, but I still have questions.
If a horse levels up and goes from winning classes to coming in dead last, should I give that horse a week "off" to see if another week of training will boost it back up to the top of its class? Or, is it not worth it, because I'll lose out on the showing bonus?
Also, is it worth it to show foals? Or should I wait until they age up?
And, finally, I think I'm operating in the red in regards to showing fees vs. payouts and bonuses. Is that to be expected with a new player, like myself? Or am I doing something wrong? -
Ive just posted pretty much the exact same lol, hopefully we get our answers :)

It is usually not worth showing foals because they don't train and therefore remain in the lowest class. As there are only two horses entered in that class and the last placed horse gets no money then it really is not worth it. If you want to give a horse a week 'off' when it levels up it won't affect the show bonus. The show bonus would remain the same if you never entered the horse in a show again, it certainly wouldn't go down. Before we had the new showing system with the bonus (and I had far fewer horses!) I used to micro manage their show entries keeping track of their progress with spreadsheets and kept them out of shows when they had just levelled up, but now everything (except foals) gets entered with auto shower and I don't worry. Finally, it is not unusual to be in the red as regards fees against winnings, the real money earner is in the show bonus and that takes time for you to build up your herd. Look into the 'Adopt A Horse' option and see if you can get some show horses that are in a good place to help boost your earnings.
Hope this helps.Thanked by 1Alliance Farms -

The majority of large barns do show foals, they just put them on auto-show and ignore them. Any points are helpful and class is dirt cheap.Need to contact me? Read this first.
