How to raise a good show string
-
I want to find a good mare/stallion that can help me get started with a good show string but I don't know where to start exactly :-/

There are two ways you can approach this!
1: the easiest, fastest, and often cheapest place to get good mares for breeding is the Foundation Rescue. If you search for horses owned by 13, you'll bring up the full list. You can then use the various search options to narrow down what you're looking for (mares vs stallions, size, age, etc.) These are all guaranteed to be perfect foundations, meaning they are 100% breeding ability... AND 100% showing ability, so they themselves are valuable additions to any showing string!
1b: Search the public breeding boards for stallions up for public stud. You can even sort them by stud fee, which will bring all the guys that are up for ONE HB to the very top of the list. If you're breeding foundation mares you probably want to stick to foundation stallions, but there are some awesome, flashy boys up for ONE HB.
2: You can scour the sales board and public auction for foals that other players don't want to keep. Right at this moment I see a couple of 12+ PT babies that are for sale for 3500 hbs each. No need to buy a mare, no need to pay breeding or testing fees, just buy buy buy and hoard hoard hoard!
It can take a few game years for horses to really start earning their keep as showers. Remember that you now make your money from their accumulated points, not really the shows themselves, and it's those points that add up over time. The more you show a horse, the more points it gets. The more points it has, the more money it earns you every day. If you sell the horse for any reason, you lose all those points...

If you post your ID, we can also add you to the new member adoption program buddy chat, where there are some fantastic show horses available to new members, to help give your show string an immediate boost :)
