Sell back to game for 1k hbs (2,500 hbs if it has a fantasy gene).
Auction runs Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday and you get a minimum of 2,500 hbs for each horse after the auction runs.
Price for public sale for 2,500 hbs (or less!) and then post to the forums with a link. If you have multiple horses for sale, you can use just one forum post for all their links. Or use the horse search (enter your owner ID# and click on the button for 'horses for sale', and use that link in your forum post instead of listing them all individually.

The quickest way is to go to the horse's Control Panel tab. On the left side, below the name there are a number of buttons. One of them is Auction this Horse.

A more involved way is to open the horse's page in one tab, so you can see its name. Then click on Community in the left margin, click on Public Auction House. Then Click on Enter a Horse in the top menu, and select the horse's name from the drop down box.

You can enter horses into the auction on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. You cannot enter horses while the auction is running on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
