Torn on two full sibling foals..
-
So, I bred my Sb3 mare to the same stallion (straws) this year. One, is homozygous Sb3, but was gelded. The other is intact but has NO Sb3! *frustrating*
So I'm torn on GMTing two Sb3 genes onto my intact boy or turning my gelding into a mare and hoping for an intact mare...So far this mare has been very frustrating on giving me any intact foals!
Foals in question -
I do not think that you can turn a gelding into a mare :(
-
I think you're right. Not without creating a clone first and modifying it. I just tried color testing two geldings to see if I could switch them, but they did not show up on the list of horses eligible for modifying, so I'm guessing that only intact horses can be GMT'd.

Yeh you can't gmt spays/gelds, which leaves gmt'ing the colt. Personally I'd compare him to another B papered foundie before going to the expense of gmt'ing him

dang didn't think about not being able to turn a gelding into a mare lol I did comparison test the colt to an exceptional foundie and he came up worse than :( Oh well...maybe next year!
