How many studs made it out
-
How many of your new studs made it out of the new testing and your culling?
I have two born this year one homebred
Maxwell lord
And one I just got yesterday
Dublin O 7

Dublin O7 is just gorgeous! I love how liver chestnut and pangare makes them look kinda like black and tan dogs.
6 out of 10 colts passed this breeding. I'm not sure how I feel about this as I'm not fond of most of their colours (too many of them inherited grey), and I was hoping for girls.
Silversun's very pretty though. I lover silver buckskins. -
Four of my colts made it through. I'm on my tablet so I will post their photos tomorrow.
One of my boys, I love his color and he is a B papered stud too.

I ended up with 4 superior colts this season (all from different sires) so I am so happy with that! And 89 geldings haha.HJ1: 133971

I've gotten 22 intact colts and 1040 gelded colts this year. That is something like 2% intact rate. The vast major was hand bred, AI/ET or pasture bred with less then 1 week pasture bonus. I am happy with the number of studs I've gotten and may end up selling a few/GMTing a few into mares. However, I wish I got a few more intact fillies, so I am going to be trying to get more time in pastures in the future.ID 213454

I ended up with 12 intact colts and 142 geldings out of 296 total breedings

14 colts and 275 geldings.
Very happy with those figures I always ended up with too many colts intact and found it hard to choose.
79 fillies and 218 spayed, also happy with those figures.Wyanawah - 216219 -
I got two intact colts that I kept that way, both superior to their sires.
WO In my Mind (I haven't made up my mind about him yet; he's superior to his sire but has an A-papered half brother. The two colts comparison test AAGA, so for now, I'm keeping him for his color. I'm trying to weed out the studs, though, so he may be sold or snipped.)
WO Wrigley
On the filly side, I got six intact (I only use strict breeding test) but will likely snip some of them as well. I'm getting off track on color and/or quality in a few.
Interestingly, the second colt and the only 3rd-generation Blue mare I got this season were by the same sire and out of mares that were by the same foundation stallion. They seem to make a nice little line.Post edited by Wide Open Farm at 2017-03-24 14:43:36 -
I haven't finished breeding yet but I had 41 colts and 10 are currently in-tact. I may do some more culling though.
A few of my favorites:

I was not looking to keep any colts this season. I ended up keeping one out of my favorite non-fantasy stallion.
2G Tower Guard -
Haven't counted intact vs sniped but these are the intacts I'm really pleased with and will be adding to my breeding when they're 3 yrs old
First is a second gen, his mother gave me my first ever A papered stud, she turned 17 this year so I'm really pleased to have another A papered son to carry on her line. Added bonus he got his sire's SB1 gene
2GHasty Decision
Also got this star papered 4th Gen boy, second season I've managed to breed a star, he papered AGA my previous star stud. Unfortunately he inherited frame which I need to avoid, not sure if I'll GMT to remove it.

Jemima if interested I've got this 4G *Star boy I would swap, save you using a GMT and fusing in some outside genes.
