Using tattoos is a feature of the Basic and Premium upgrades. Purchasing one of these will open up the tattoo registry to you. You can find the link to this feature to the right of your stable home page under Stable Management as one of the upgraded features.

When it has been activated by your upgrade, you can click on the tattoo registry link and create a tattoo slot. Your first one is free. After that new slots will cost 10,000 hbs,

The slot comes with your stable name as its default name. You can change that at any time by entering a new name and saving it. The tattoo is created by clicking on Edit this Tattoo. This takes you to a rather complex tattoo drawing page where you can create your tattoo pixel by pixel in a 25X25 pixel field. You can select a number of colors as you make your tattoo.

Once it has been created and saved, you put it on your horse by going to the horse's Tack tab and scrolling to the bottom to find the Tattoo Manager. There you select your tattoo and the place where you want to put it--in any of the four corners of the image--or on the horse in a number of places--hip, thigh shoulder, withers, cheek, or invisibly inside its lip.
