Performance Testing Problem
-
I just bought a new horse:
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2562041
The previous owner never did a performance test. When I clicked on Performance Testing under the "Testing and Papering" menu to get to Dorris, the drop-down menu should have shown his name. Instead, it shows no names, which would indicate that all of my horses have had their PTs determined. But I can't find a PT on his page. Please help me. Thanks!"Time is nothing to a cat when he is dancing." Esther Averill -
Just a thought. Go to his control panel page and click on his NO TESTING and make sure it is turned on.Thanked by 1Fir Tree Shadow

I never knew what that button meant.
Why wouldn't someone want to test their own horse? Forewarned is forearmed.
That doesn't really matter, though--I did as you suggested, and it worked like a charm. Thank you very much."Time is nothing to a cat when he is dancing." Esther Averill -
I turn off testing on my geldings and spayed mares after they've been thru the basic free tests and PT and Consistency. I don't care what their color is since they can't breed. That way the only horses that show up in the drop down list for Color testing are intact horses. It's easier on the eyes. I'm sure other people have reasons for using the no testing button.Thanked by 1Fir Tree Shadow

Many people choose not to PT test breeding stock, particularly foundations. PT doesn't tell you anything about your stallion's breeding quality. It will only give you a rough idea about how fast and and how long he'll continue to improve with training. The players that don't test don't want their breeders showing up when they're trying to PT new babies, the PTs of which will tell you a lot about their dam's quality. (There are better ways of assessing stallions.)
There's nothing wrong with PT testing breeding stock though, if you wish. I do it myself. The blank spaces in the PT columns taunt me otherwise.
