You'll find a lot of basic information about the game at the FAQ near the bottom of the left menu.

The easiest way to get your first horse is probably to go to the Create a Horse page and make one. It costs 2500 hbs (the game money--hajibucks).

You will get a new Daily Herd Helper every day. Each one will be a certain color or pattern. You can share your Herd Helper by posting it here on the forum. There's a button for doing that on the Create a Horse page.

If you aren't interested in your own Herd Helper, a lot of us post them in the forum and you may be able to get a share of one. The higher the rank of the Herd Helper, the fewer shares there are and the quicker they are used up.
