Why was she spayed?
This filly is clearly better than her mother, so why was she spayed? I haven't gotten a SINGLE intact mare out of over 400 breedings yet this year!
  • Testing now compares them to both parents, she must not be better then the sire.

That means you are breeding horses that are very uneven in ability. Don't use strict testing if you don't want strict results. If you think a horse is clearly better and you want it intact don't bother using the advice.

  • I am trying to improve me mares by using a superior stallion. A friend has a natural star of that gen so I am trying to "breed up" so to speak
  • In that case you don't want to be using the strict advice as it will not give you what you are looking for. If you know a filly is superior to her dam via papering than you can totally skip the breeding advice.

  • If you're looking for gold and stars at 3rd generation, you're going to have to expect more of your 2g mares. An A papered foundation stallion shouldn't have too much trouble producing intact blue papered mares from regular exceptional quality mares. Those are the mares you'll produce 3g stars and golds from.
