Gold Potential?
-
Just wondering how you can tell if you have a young mare that has good potential to be gold papered?
-
The best bet is if all the mares showing on both the sire's side of her pedigree and the dam's side papered gold. Aside from that, most of the mares showing should be gold. Checking the offspring of her sire and dam to see what they have produced is also helpful.
This is not to say that a blue papered dam can't produce a gold papered daughter, because at some point in a line this has to happen, but there's more uncertainty about when that might happen. Pedigrees that show steady progression toward better and better papering for both stallions and mares are the best guarantee of eventually producing those gold mares.Thanked by 1BigBosAcres -
If a young mare has high 12+ foal pt's then she has a good chance of being gold. Depends on the sire of those foals though, he might have pushed them higher than she'd produce otherwiseThanked by 1BigBosAcres
