How Much would he go for?
  • One of the horses I've bred this season. He is a Gray Sabino Splash Frame Varnish Appaloosa and passed his GA, SAT and Consistency tests. However, his sire is papered B and his dam is unpapered. I'm just wondering how much people would be willing to part with if, say, I put him up for auctioning. I'm not saying that I will, just curious!

  • I find it hard selling horses on this game and I'm possibly not the best person to ask, but you could maybe get $3-$5K, if he papered A though, perhaps $10K? I'd maybe be interested if he papered A, but I have far too many stallions! Haha
  • Haha! Okay, thanks for the help! Unfortunately, I lack the funds to get an upgrade, but I'm thinking of holding on to him until I can
  • My advice...Keep him. If you don't want to breed him, then geld him and make him a show pony. In the long haul, you will need LOTS of show horses to help fund a smaller breeding herd. If they are allowed to stay intact in my barn, they better show well too. I have a few mares that I don't show, but they have proven themselves as great producers so they get to stay. If you sell him, I would suggest reinvesting that money into a show horse that is for sale from the Rescue. Those are almost always worth them money, especially if they are 6-10 years old. I usually buy 7-8 yr olds.
  • That sounds like great advice! Thank you!
