I thought I remember someone saying that the system sometimes alters inconsistent horses who paper better than the parents. An example was I think a mare who papered blue from a B x Red cross who wasn't consistent. I think that's what happened, but I'm not sure.
I thought I remembered Ammit saying that one test doesn't affect the other, but treated as totally different tests as far as altering them goes.

It's not so much that they train randomly each week as it is that when they show, their score is not consistent and so may be higher or lower than that of a consistent horse. This was a bigger deal before the showing system was overhauled. Currently inconsistency factors into PT score and lowers it appropriately.

Inconsistency will get a horse automatically gelded/spayed, but the threshold for this is higher than "a little bit." Actually I've never bothered to look to see how high the swing has to be, as it's not that important to me as a breeder. It's also kind of random, as two Consistent horses can produce Inconsistent foals, and two Inconsistent ones can (more rarely) produce Consistent babies.

If you have a LOT of horses and you're looking for a quick way to make some cuts, gelding all of your inconsistent colts might be a quick way to rule out candidates among a large pool of otherwise more or less identical boys. Alternatively, if you have a colt you REALLY like, but you're worried because he's inconsistent and his foals might end up altered by testing too often, you can buy a GMT token and make him perfectly consistent. (Same with fillies, though that gets expensive quick.)
