Collecting Eggs
-
I have successfully collected straws from my stallions using the "Advanced Breeding Sciences Lab" tab, but how do I collect eggs from my broodmares?
I have a level 4 stable, if that makes a difference.

Yes, that does make a difference. The ability to collect eggs come with the Level 5 upgrade.
Level 4 allows you to do an embryo transfer by impregnating a mare using a straw in the AI lab. The embryo is then transferred to a surrogate mare using the Implant Embryo feature. Here is a quote from the Create Embryo page:Create an Embryo
Welcome to the ABSL's embryo transfer laboratory. This facility impregnates a mare using a straw. The resulting fertilized embryo is then harvested and placed in cold storage for implantation in for the future. This process costs 8,000 hb's. Additional fees will be charged during implantation and foaling.

If you read the full description of the perks of Level 5, you will find egg collection and mass egg flushing listed.

So that's how it's done.
Is all of that info found in the Cloning Lab, then?
I may have to save my pennies for an upgrade."Time is nothing to a cat when he is dancing." Esther Averill -
It is in the Advanced Breeding Lab, not the Cloning Lab. When you go to the Adv. Breeding Lab, it opens up in the Straw Collection section. The links to the other sections are across the top of the page. Create Embryo is the 4th from the left.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

I'd just like to mention, if you do upgrade to Level 5 it is soooo much cheaper to use embryos this way. As a Level 5, you have a page called Collect Eggs (farthest link to the right in the Advanced Breeding Sciences Lab, or ABSL), where for $3000 each you can collect and store eggs for an indefinite amount of time, rather than only have the option to fertilize and embryo with a straw and then collect the embryo, at a cost of $8000 each.
When you're ready to use your stored egg, you go to the Create Embryo page and there is a second option (for Level 5) to create a test tube embryo with a stored egg and straw. This only costs $2000 each.
In comparison, when you upgrade to Level 5, you're paying a total of $5000 ($3000 + $2000) each to collect an egg and create an embryo, rather than $8000 to fertilize an embryo and then collect it.
Either way, once you've created an embryo you use the Implant Embryos page (second option from the right in the ABSL) to implant the embryo into a surrogate mare. This costs $4000 each. Once you select the surrogate mare and the embryo you want to use, just tell it to Create The Foal and voilà... your foal is born.Post edited by Raina at 2014-10-23 17:30:53Imation Stud ID# 2609
