Breeding 2nd Generation mares

I'm not very educated on how horse breeding works, I mostly just play for fun here. But I was wondering, I want to breed my 2nd generation mare, so would it be best to breed her to a 2nd generation stud? or are foundations ok too?

For a better chance of getting an intact foal you will want to breed similar paper levels (yellow/C, red/B, Blue/A, Gold/Star). A lot of people like to breed equal generation, others don't.
