Brother Stallions - who to geld?
-
Stud 04 is A papered, and 10.00PT
Stud 03 is B papered, and 10.90PT
Comparison test is "about as good as"
Who would you expect to throw better foals? I know there is room for overlapping of ability when it comes to paper levels.Hajinc - 16226 -
I would say that the A papered stud has better breeding ability than the B papered stud, since he papered higher. Since the B stud papered "about as good as," a ranking that ranges from slightly worse than to slightly better than," he is probably only slightly worse than the A boy, but the A stud would probably end up with a slightly higher AFPT.
Since the B papered stud has a PT almost a full point higher, he will doubtless do well showing.Thanked by 1Alohomora -
I would select stallion 04 (A) for creating foals for my breeding herd, but stallion 03 (B) if I was breeding to make show foals. So, it depends what you want the foals for!

@Alohamora that is a flawed selection. Having a higher PT has no relation to producing higher PTs. Breeding ability is what would grant a horse to produce higher PTs. In this case, even when these stallions comparison test AGA each other, there is obviously enough difference in that to show one is a better breeder than the other, since he has papered higher. The A papered colt is the superior choice of the 2.Go boldly, where no App has gone before!
