Creating a chestnut appaloosa and roan
  • I want to make horses like I have in real. My gelding alfred has 4 white socks, a blaze and a small/medium blanket and he is chestnut. And my mare sapphire is a chestnut roan, she is older so is mostly roamed out now. She has a blaze and four slight socks...any help would be awesome

  • Ok, to create your appy gelding, the genetics of the game should look something like this, depending on other varitables, I just used the middle of the road ones:

ee Aa CC dd gg Ff StyS Pp zz chch SaSa KitrKit SpSp LlpL rbrb OO IiIi WF: Large PATN: minimal

The varitables in the genetics could be AA, aa; FF or ff (if he is flaxen), StySty (dark), StyS (medium) or SS (no sooty, so light); PP if he has a lot of pangene, or pp if he has none. He may also be KitrKitr (if he is homozygous for roan). If he has a pure white blanket with no spots, he may be LlpLlp which is homozygous for appy, but if he has spots in it, then he is LlpL. With high socks and a blaze he probably has a large White Factor (WF), and since he only has a small blanket, his PATN is probably minimal. Remember this is game genetics only, so they are not exact to real life, because there is a lot more still to learn about the genetics of horses, and Ammit keeps us pretty well updated on the findings.

To create the chestnut mare you should have these:

ee Aa CC dd gg Ff StyS Pp zz chch SaSa KitrKitr SpSp LL rbrb OO IiIi WF: Medium PATN: none

Again there will be varitables, depending on if she is flaxen or not (ff for flaxen, FF for same color as body), where you mentioned she is already roaned out, I put KitrKitr, but age could be a factor too, to have her already roaned out. The StyS could also be varitable depending on how dark of a chestnut she is, as mentioned above on the gelding.

This is only what I have learned from the game, and may not be true to life, but the best we can do in the game. Hope it helps you to create your horses.

  • Thank you! I know I can't create exact but I want to try. I got a gelding similar to mine, and had no clue on my roan. Another question for flaxen that's where their name is blondish? My geldings matches his coat but my mare...she's a mess her forelock is blonde, her name is gray and blonde, and her tail is blonde, red, and gray, and has a white stripe in it. So I'm assuming flaxen for her?

  • Roaned out means your mare is probably an appaloosa as well. So no Kit r genes at all. She would be appaloosa as well (lp gene) but with two copies of the varnish gene and PATN none. Pics would help :)
