I can be done with this year now
-
This is going to end up being a blog-type post, I'm just in need of a decompression/rant and I haven't much better of an outlet currently.
This year... was nuts. Started out moving out of my crappy duplex in the city (that building needs condemned) to a decent apartment in my home town. 2 months later my fiance's grandma passed unexpectedly, which was rough for him and his family. During our time in the apartment we could tell we were surrounded by smokers, and it came to a head in the Spring when the humidity peaked and the smoke just flowed into our space. My fiance and I are both asthmatic, and he's diabetic. Everyone's health just went nuts, including the cats, and apartment management did nothing. During this time my lease horse of 3 years was sold (thankfully to my friend's client, I have visited him twice since and get lots of updates!). We broke lease and scrambled to secure a place to live, we ended up sending the cats to live in my parents' basement (they have an 18 your old senile idiot cat who would have had a heart attack seeing my 2 fluff buckets) and my fiance and I living with a friend. It lasted about 3-4 months like this, meanwhile I busted my hump buying a house! This was super stressful on top of the whole living situation, but by the end of September we were moved into our new home, which is awesome, and I love it. We finally had it all under control until the end of October when I got stupid sick, fever over 102, shakes, fatigue, anorexia. Then my neck swelled up like I swallowed a baseball. I saw the Dr within 3 days of symptoms, long story short I have a brachial cleft cyst with a few colonies of strep bacteria. Thanks stress for killing my immune system. I've been on antibiotics for going on 2 months now, but my neck looks normal again. This was, again, super stressful, because within the interim of euphoria I signed up for an equine massage therapy certification program, which at the time was fast approaching and I was worried about my health. Thankfully I was fine for a while before it started, and I just got home from completing the course! So after all this garbage this year I think I found my "calling", I've never been more comfortable or confident off the bat in doing anything. I am still going to do my day job, I don't know if I can do this full time yet physically, and I don't know what kind of interest I will have in the area yet to be able to sustain full time. I now have a big Christmas list including Ice Horse, 3b Lazers, PEMF machines, and equitape....
One downside is that stupid cyst has to come out in 3 days and I have to recover for at least a week, so I can't do anything too physical for a while.
So I am 100% ready to turn the page on 2017, hopefully 2018 will be kinder to me. And maybe let me win a powerball or two -
Ouch! What a rough year! I'm so glad that you've made your way through all those trials. I, too, hope that 2018 will go more smoothly. We've had some of our therapeutic riding horses treated with equine massage therapy, and it has helped most of them a lot. Good luck getting started with a practice. You're wise to begin slowly, I think.Thanked by 1ichigo

I can give you the same story along different lines of heath issues mixed in with the hurricanes. I tell ya, it doesn’t let up. I’m tired of 2017, turn the page and let 2018 be a positive year to remember.Thanked by 1ichigo

Sounds like you've had it with 2017. Congrats on your certification though! I'm Master Certified in Equine Massage Therapy myself through Therasage EMC :) Best thing I have ever done. Hopefully the rest of the year rides out smooth and 2018 lets you breathe easy a while!Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Thanks everyone! I hope you all have a great 2018, sorry to hear some of your 2017's were difficult as well.
@HayesStable that's where I went through! It was such a great program, I got a lot out of it from just 4 days. Everyone was awesome, super helpful, and I left feeling so confident in myself to be able to do the job.Thanked by 1HayesStable
