Pricing

I know this is kind of a watch and learn question, but I was hoping someone could point out some genes that drive the horse's value up and by how much?
For example the Marvelous Milestone straw Ammit gave us. Does this sire drive the price up past 2500?
Obviously I know Nexus/Axiom/Ice genes do, but what about frame or splash? Are there certain variations that are worth more? Like splash 2 vs 3? -
Rarer genes are usually worth more, as well as ones that need to be bought with real money on foundations, but realistically mostly quality is worth more than colours. It helps if the horses have the colours someone is wanting though, as well as their prefered size/bone, so there are a lot of variables for selling price. Best way to make money is from showing!! It's a long term investment though as it takes a while to build up the points

Plus, the gene that is popular today may not be as popular in a couple months, just when you get your breeding going right! Or a new gene comes out and the old ones are forgotten. I usually just do a search for horses with similar genes and see how much other people are asking.

Usually, too, if there aren't any sales up or you can't find closely related enough to the horse you want to sell, you can always host an auction in the forum. Or post a link and some info and see what people's opinions are :)
Ultimately you breed for yourself because everyone has different likes and goals! Show ponies are your friends, have a lot of them!Thanked by 1Kintara
