Boosted question
-
so I am now at the point I can started boosting my stock. I used for first boosted foundation stud on pasture mares that where in for 30 days. did not seem to get a better group of foals this season then then from the last that had an on boosted stud with the mares. was this just bad luck are should I use the boasted stud in mares not in pasture to see the boosted results.

How are you defining better? Would need to see the horse and more info. :)Post edited by Ammit at 2018-02-08 08:31:31Need to contact me? Read this first.

Ammit can give more detailed info I'm sure.
Within my own herd I do not get anymore intact from boosted stock (possibly less if I looked into it that hard), however I get better PT scores and those foals that do make it through testing are certainly better. I have 3G *Gold and *Star stock now (not many but they're there!)Wyanawah - 216219 -
If you cross boosted stock with unboosted stock, the quality of the sire compared to the quality of the dam is uneven, and since SBA compares the foal to both parents, it is more difficult for the foal to pass intact. However, IF a foal does pass intact, they do tend to paper better. I got a 3rd gen Star colt from a boosted 2nd gen A that I purchased just because a while ago. However, that colt and 1 other colt was the only ones to pass SBA out of 30ish foals from that sire.

this is rhe guy since i posted this i did ger some better foals http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=5772895
My main question is since he is already at a full boost is it still worth breeding him to the pasture mares that have been in for 30 days.
will there boost help to boost the foals more?

He will produce better foals than a normal foundation for sure. Using him on 30 day pasture mares is a great idea and the foals will be better than foals sired by a normal foundation.Need to contact me? Read this first.
