So, here's my question: when you create a horse with a 100% breeding ability, it will be a great breeder? I have created horses with a
100% and they papered as a C (I am trying to get some good stallions). Why is this?
Thanks a ton!Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.

C is a good as a foundation will be unless you pay to boost them.
It's a perfectly good stallion to start a line with. Just choose what you keep carefully and you'll be able to breed up through the generations.Thanked by 1Oak Tree Stables -
Oh, Okay! I didn't know you could breed through generations like that. Thanks! :)Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.

Yup. If you choose carefully, and keep trying, your C can have a B papered son. Choose well again, and eventually you can get an A...then so on.
It may or may not happen with the first colt you get, sometimes you have to do a few dozen breedings with different mares to get it.
It's part of the challenge of the game. ;) -
I started to try: got a C. Gotta wait until the next season. I bred all my mares that were old enough. ;)
Thanks again!Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.

So, what is the max paper that a foundation mare can be? Yellow? Red? Do they even have a "best they can be" like stallions?
Thanks (sorry if that all is a bit confusing)Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.

For mare papering the top mares are gold then in descending order blue, red, yellow, failed. Most foundation mares paper red or yellow. Think of the papering system as a sliding scale. A mare could be considered a high red (almost blue) or the opposite of that. Papering is based in part on the quality of foal s she produces.
-
The mares you buy from the foundation rescue are all the best they can be (for normal creates), some will paper red, some yellow. I think it's because they are all such high yellow that a couple of foals with a good PT pushes them into red. They are all the same quality though so I don't really bother papering foundation mares, but do keep an eye on foal PT's they produce. No yellows for gen2 mares though!

Oh, that makes sense. I think I have a pretty good foundie mare! I bred her to a Star stallion and got an A-gelding (didn't pass through Charlie because of his dad...)
Thanks a ton guys!Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.

Well, if you bred a foundation mare to a Star stallion, there is a big difference in their quality. The stallion pushed the mares quality to have the A papered foal. To really test her potential, you should breed foundation to foundation and build your horses up from there.
Not only will you have the satisfaction of breeding you own line, but you will know the quality of your line better.
Anytime you breed wide based different generations together (like a star to a foundation) you have more of a chance to end up with spayed or gelded horses, because one of the pair doesn't have the quality to help push the foal to be better than the higher lined horse.
Also, not that you have to do it, but if you ever plan on selling any of your foals, most people like an even looking lineage on their horses, and trying to sell a foal with an uneven lineage is a lot harder than a nicely looking even linage (foundation to foundation, second gen to second gen...etc.)Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Think! - It's not illegal yet. -
Ah, I see. I will start my own line (next season! Bred all my mares...)!
Now, to do this, I breed foundieXfoundie until I get 2 "good" foals. Breed the 2nd gen, when I get some good ones (3rd) breed them, so on. Right?
Thanks!Used to be SilverPony on the old forum.
