B Papered colt out of Yellow Papered mare?
-
-
It can happen, because the papering for the mares overlaps. She could be a high yellow, almost red.
If things were lined up in papering for Mares and studs, then yellow would only produce C studs, and Red only B studs, Blue only A studs and Gold only Star studs, but because the papering system is flexible and overlapping you can get a A papered stud out of a red mare, or a B out of a yellow mare, or on the flip side get a A out of a Gold mare instead of a Star. There has to be some variance to balance.Post edited by KerredansCorral at 2014-11-22 06:39:49Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Ah, okay. That makes sense:)

Yellow for a foundation mare is very normal, I have perfect foundation mares, the best a regular foundation can that paper yellow. Those same mares have even given me A papered colts on occasion. Also very normal for a foundation mare to throw a B papered colt! I don't bother papering foundation mares because it doesn't really tell you much, the yellows aren't usually worse than the red ones
