Color genes
  • Is there a page that shows us the different color genes and how we can make them by gmt ing them?
  • Did you check the genetics guide under Vital links?

  • For the main ones, the Genetics Guide can help you some, although it may take some study to pick out the details from all the technical scientific information that Ammit includes there. I'm not certain that there is a guide to using the GMT lab to create different colors.

There is a difference, sometimes, between what the name of the gene is and the name of the color or colors it produces depending on the other genes that are present.

A black horse must have at least one dominant Extension (E) gene and two copies of recessive Agouti (aa). If you want to make a horse grullo, you must add at least one dominant dun allele (D).
If you want to make a Smokey Black horse, you must add one dominant Ccr. If you're looking for Smokey Cream, add two--CcrCcr. To make a Classic Champagne, add at least one dominant champagne allele--Ch. If you want a silver black, add at least one dominant silver allele (Z).

You have to start by learning about each gene. You can do that by clicking on each element of the gene code for a horse and studying the page of the Genetics Guide to see what it says about that gene and what it does.

If you have a specific horse that you would like to make a different color in the GMT lab, you could post it here along with the color you would like it to be, and someone will be able to help you out. If no one else does, I'll be glad to be your tutor. :)

I remembered seeing this on the other server.
But for sure I will be asking questions.
