Decisions! And show level question..
  • How did you decide what you wanted to breed for?

Also what determines when a horse goes to the next show level?
  • Personally I think it's best to take a month or two and just breed anything that looks interesting! That way you can try out different colors and patterns and see which ones you still like. I can't tell you how many times I've seen new people do a full barn sale because they are changing their goals. Then again, that's perfectly ok, too, since nothing in this game is a race!

  • My choice was easy, in real life one of my favourite colours was the silvers, so right from the start I tried to breed silvers here on Hajinc! The only thing is that I've added a heap more colours too them, I don't like to restrict myself haha!!!

Horses move up to the next show level when training has added enough points to their show scores that they qualify for moving up. Here's a chart I made quite a while ago that shows the points at which a horse is likely to level up to the next class. The three columns list Level, Grade (Local, Regional, National, World), and the approximate score when a horse levels out of each one. The question marks at the Level 6 and early Level 7 grades are because Ammit enlarged the range of scores for those classes, but I had already purchased my Premium Upgrade and so didn't have to keep track of exactly where my horses were to decide when to show them. This was long before the invention of the showing bonus based on points, when you wanted to show horses only if they were likely to place in the top half of the class so that you would at least earn back the entry fee for the class.

  • I started out breeding anything, then blacks. Then I added a line of palominos (preferring chocolate palominos) and then I decided to add a line to breed blue chip coloured horses (taking it way back before we had full horse pics or head shots we had a square of colour and different genes would affect the colour so I aimed for shades of blues and grullo gave me the nicest blue shade) eventually the blues got headshots and turned more grey.

After a while I felt too overwhelmed by my 3 lines so culled all but my grullo. There was also another massive cull but I restarted my grullo line again after that. I’m not even sure how long ago that was but probably for the last 7 or 8 real life years I’ve been pursuing my goal of completely grullo pedigrees with a wide range of white patterns minimizing appy and roan gened horses.
Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes
  • I'm honestly torn between grulla and cremello/perlino.. I've always loved grullo but I learned gene sequences with cream genes because, to me, it's the easiest color to learn
