Trying to figure the game out
-
On the horse's info - what are "damages"? Bought a horse that has numerous damages listed and I have no clue what that means!
-
In real life horses can injure themselves, or damage property, so in the game, it takes a few HB's from you to pay for damages. Depending on the age of your horse, it just shows how much damages were accumulated from its life. Most cause damage of 1-4 hb's here and there occationally, but sometimes you get one that is a real damage causer, taking 20 or more hb's at a time for damage, and more often, so it is almost better to geld/spay them and send them to auction than keep them around. Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Think! - It's not illegal yet. -
If you could give us a link to the horse, it's URL, then someone could evaluate the significance of its damages. Speaking without seeing this specific horse, I can say that I have horses that frequently appear with damages, generally 0 - 2 or 3 hbs. I generally ignore such things. However, when I have a horse that causes 10+ hbs of damage in a fairly short time (over several weeks, for instance), or who has a single incident of damages over 20 hbs, I always check them out and consider if their value to my stable as either show horses or breeding stock outweighs their damages.
In the early days of the game when there were very few tests to gauge the quality of a given horse, damages were used as a marker--very high damages = poor quality horse. Now, I very rarely see damages more than a few hbs at a time for a given horse. The last one I sent to the auction for excessive damages racked up approximately 45 hbs total (I don't remember the exact figure, but it was in that ballpark) in two events in less that 1 month after I had created her. She was, I think, the second one I recall banishing for damages in the years I've been playing the game since I started in January, 2011.

Here is the horse. Wish I had asked before buying! Probably why it was so cheap. -
I would agree. He probably should go back to the auction.
I have put this horse up on buddy sale for you in his place:

He's a consistent 2nd gen 5 year old gelding with a total of 131 points.

I made the mistake of creating too many horses in the first day so will have to wait till I sell some at the auction this weekend but thanks! He looks great!

No problem. He will be waiting there for you when you are ready. You can click on the little star at the right corner of the top of this message thread so that it will show up in the right hand column of the forum page as a "Bookmarked Discussion" so you don't forget it or this thread drops down onto the second page.
