Points
-
I am confused on what points are. I see that you can get them from showing, but what exactly do they do? When I read the forum posts that were for beginners, all I could find was how to get them - not what they were.

Points earn you a weekly showing bonus -- just from having a horse with points in your barn, you'll earn extra hb every week. It's a relatively recent change that's been added since all those new member instructions were added. I'll see if I can find you the announcement explaining it :)

Every time a horse shows it gains a certain number of points depending on the level of the class and how many horses are in it, unless the horse comes in last. The last horse in the class doesn't get any points. These points accumulate in the horse's record.
At the midnight roll-over between Saturday and Sunday, the program multiplies the total number of points that have been gathered by all your horses and gives you a weekly showing bonus equal to 60% of the number of points.
For example, if today were Saturday instead of Friday, I would have 695,091 and would receive 417,054 hbs. This is a great comfort, because my current 7 day showing profit is -8,529 hb's. Of course, I've been playing about 4 1/2 years and have 2304 horses of a wide range of ages and showing levels. :O Some of them are yearlings and some are in pastures and not showing, but it does add up.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2014-12-05 17:50:01 -
