Genetics explanation.. little help

I must be missing something on this guy. I know the sire is hom dp but he looks a little dark for a silver buckskin. I'd like to try to duplicate this but I think I'm missing something in the ingredients.

He looks a lot like my chocolate palominos, which are genetically almost spot on (aside from being drafts), just without the silver. I think it's just the DP and double sooty genes at work here.ID #238663, she/her pronouns
