My favorite breed would have to be the Andalusian, also known as Pure Spanish Horse or PRE (pura raza española).
Now why do I love them. One to me they are beautiful. Arched neck, deep chest, short back, strong hindquarters, clean legs, and a heavy main and tail. All are assets but they are also known for their intelligence, and versatility. I love that they are beautiful, intelligent, with physical ability to go with beauty and brains. That to me makes a horse great. -
My favorite breed is most likely Paints. Not Pintos, I love the stocky paints. My first horse was a Grade paint gelding, he was such a smart, people oriented guy. He was so slender you could hardly stay on whenever he decided to hop sideways, but he beefed up within a year or two of having him. Definitely had a wild side that put me in the ground (and right onto a tractor drag one time) more times than I can count. He had a blue eye, every time someone would come and watch in the arena he’d want to stand right next to them. He didn’t spook easily, but he could run for days flagging his tail like an Arabian :)) I love all the possible patterns, and even though he was a little crazy he was definitely my favorite horse of all time. Total goofball that would grab the water hose in his mouth, and was the first one to come to you in the pasture.

I really love Arabians (which is one of the reasons why I primarily breed riding horses on here).
Although they can be somewhat of a pain to work around because of how their brains are wired, I still enjoy the challenge and love the opportunity I have working with them.
They are beautiful, but never lack for different personalities and levels of dorkiness. There was a stud once that would never bite you, but absolutely loved to lick people’s hands. And another time I trained an arab/qh cross to longe off of my hand cues instead of clucking and kissing. Right now I’m working on one that is just about bombproof but has no idea what leg pressure means. He’s adorable. And then there’s that one mare that always crossfires when she lopes off in the round pen.
Most of them are excellent movers, being longer strided at the trot and driving deeper from their hocks. So smooth to ride!
Their faces are distinctive, their eyes bright and expressive.
They have a level of refinement that you don’t usually find in your average Quarter Horse. -
I love Connemara ponies. My mum had one during her teenage years, and she outjumped most of her peers on full size horses. Every Connie I've met has just been a bundle of jumping joy with more heart than they know what to do with. They're nice hardy animals, not too stocky, not so refined they look like twigs. To me they're almost the perfect all around critter - can jump things taller then them, can bust out fancy dressage moves, but also completely happy to knock out some miles down the trail.

My favorite breed of horse is defiantly a thoroughbred they are very versatile and move so nicely. I'm also a little biased because i own 2, but my favorite is specifically an OTTB (Off the track thoroughbred) i have a 4 year old OTTB who is an awesome minded horse with a lot of scope jumping! I also love tall horses and they are known for being big, and muscular. They are also beautiful dressage horses or even barrel horses. Im hoping to get my next OTTB to start training and restarting to be a hunter/jumper :) This mare will really help me start my liver line! And an added bonus is the brindle!!Post edited by BreedingStable at 2019-01-03 07:55:52

The Morgan is by far one of the most beautiful breeds to me, and not just because of their looks. They are also so intelligent and emotional. When I was little I thought Morgans were just saddleseat horses and driving horses (that's all I remember by aunt doing with them). As I have grown with them and spent time riding at other barns, I realized how truly special the Morgan can be. They are extremely versatile and can excel at any discipline, from working cows on a ranch, to Park saddle, to Grand Prix Dressage. There is something very captivating about their eyes, expressive and intelligent. They are graceful, full of motion and I have never met an uncomfortable Morgan to ride. There is lot of variety in the breed, gorgeous manes, rainbow of colors, and sizes for everyone.

My favorite breed is quarter horses. They're super versatile, good at everything from trails to reining to barrel racing to jumping. I will admit to being a little partial on the matter, since my six-year old mare (who is also my first horse!) is a quarter horse, as are her sisters and niece who live in the same barn where I board her. My experience with quarter horses has shown them to be confident, athletic, intelligent, and agreeable horses who make amazing friends and help they me take on amazing new adventures from mountainous trails to prepping for my first show and hopefully beyond.
For the record, I think it's really neat that everyone who has responded has a different favorite breed! -
Nevermind! Not exactly what I'm looking for, very generous of you though.. good luck everyone!Post edited by alpina at 2019-01-03 14:28:06Rhine Valley Equestrian ID: 236941

My favorite horse breed would have to be the falabella
mini horse. Now, I used to not like mini horses and regarded them as nothing more than fun little pasture puffs. That was until I started working with one and discovered how truly incredible these little horses are.
A lot of their traits are overlooked because of how adorable they are. While in fact they are super cute, there's so much more to them than their cute looks. For example, Falabellas are bred to resemble big horses, just smaller. While many grade ponies are cute, a lot of them are conformational trainwrecks and often suffer health issues due to their disproportionate bodies. The Falabella on the other hand, is bred to be conformationally correct, making them an incredibly athletic and versatile breed.
The Falabella can jump in hand, pull carts, do tricks, and due to their small size, act as service ponies! Their incredible intelligence makes them able to do almost anything with proper training, and overall they're just super cool. A Falabella will forever be a must in my IRL barn.

Oh this is hard have about 10 breeds i love and worked with and more that i know i could love so in reality love every horse i work with which will lead to my favorite breed... i have my dream breeds the baroque style fressians and andulusions. I Work every day day with my drafts. Have the main breeds clydes, percherons, clydes and shire, as well as cross. own 20 drafrs they make the best partners. Hard working and kind... but can be challenging to train. Am one of the main draft trainers in florida specialize in rehabbing problem and unhealthy drafts. Am in love with my off the track tbs and standardbred... i also love the qh arabs each have there own amazing qualitys really impossible to choose. Have 10 more light horse space for training and so get to play with all breeds. but for the purposes of this at the end of the day my passion is the mustang. My heart horse was a mustang that i got she had been bought and misstreeated so not only a wild horse but one that thought people where horrible. After a year of work and alot of trust building i could ride her way here wth no saddle no bridle, after another year she got to the point where she was kid safe and thought many children to ride. Lost her to colic still morning her loss for years ago. The Mustangs as a breed is the raw nateral horse and can have any breed in it but at the same time still is shaped by nature. So is tough and free. But once the mustang gives you trust and heart. You can accomplish almost anything and you connect with the true spirit of a horse.Post edited by FLS Equine Cente at 2019-01-06 15:21:58

I would have to say my favorite breed is the Arabian. Growing up, I had 2 horses; an Appaloosa gelding and an Arabian gelding. The Appaloosa was a great horse. He taught me a lot. He was quiet, well mannered, and generally did what was expected of him. The Arabian, though, taught me SO much more. He challenged me every time we went out. I had to really think about what I was asking him to do and how I was asking him. If I made demands, I was usually denied, lol! But if I asked he would give me all he had to do it. I don't have as much real horse-experience as some of you. My 2 geldings and a neighbors Quarter Horse mare are the only 3 horses I've ever worked with. But I'll never forget my Arabian, Rowdy-Joe. Because of him, Arabians are my top choice.
