Testing
  • So when testing siblings have had this where
    A is superior to B
A is about as good as C

But B and C are about as good as eachother?
But test other way and B is worse then A
    Wondering how this works?
  • I'm going to switch to numbers so my brain doesn't keep seeing paper levels instead of individual horses.

Keep in mind that "almost as good as" doesn't mean "exactly as good as." It covers a range of {a little worse, exactly the same, or a little better}.

Horse 1 is superior to his brother horse 2.
Horse 1 is about as good as another brother, horse 3.

We can now sort the three brothers into breeding ability order. From best to worst they rank Horse 1--Horse 3 (who is about as good as Horse 1)--Horse 2 (who is definitely worse than Horse 1 and so must also be worse than Horse 3 who is about as good as Horse 2).

    So if we assign a percentage to each horse: Horse A-1 : 115%; Horse B-2 : 110%; Horse C-3 - 113%

115% is superior to 110% (A is superior to B) or, compared in the opposite order, 110% is worse than 115% (B is worse than A).

110% is about as good as 113 % (B is about as good as C) or, in the opposite order 113% is about as good as 110% (C is about as good as B).

115% is about as good as 113% (A is about as good as C) or in the opposite order 113% is about as good as 115% (C is about as good as A).

    (My brain is getting tongue-tied. :D )

  • Haha like the last sentance! Thank you i have not come across it cause did all comparisons to one brother... not that a few percent is not to bad i am guessing as long as they have the genes i need. But is good to know for the higher generations

  • Poor SandyCreek, that feels like an SAT question.
  • :D It's been a very, very long time since I endured the SAT. I think it's grown harder since the early 60's.
